Wyre Forest Parish Games 2005 - Final Results

Churchill and Blakedown have taken the Bronze in the 2005 Wyre Forest Parish Games.

A Thankyou has to go Geoff Elwell, our local co-ordinator for organising all the teams and players that took part this year. A great amount of time and effort is spent by Geoff behind the scenes to pull so many teams together. Well Done Geoff!

Press Release - Archery
The Archery Shoot was held at Arley Sports and Social Club on Saturday 14th May in blustery, but sunny, conditions. 5 teams of 4 competed in shooting 36 arrows over 24 ends. Congratulations go to Churchill and Blakedown who won with their team of Wendy, Richard, Roger and Malcolm (aka WebMaster). The shoot was well run and thanks go to the organisers. Special thanks go to the Ladies who provided the tea, coffee and buiscuits at the end of the shoot when everyone needed warming up after shooting in what was quite a cooling wind.

Press Release Short Mat Bowls

The Short Mat Bowls was held at Gilt Edge Leisure Centre on Wednesday 13th April, 7 teams of 4 competed in a thrilling round robin competition. Stourport celebrate their first win of the parish games winning all 7 of their games with 18 points. Upper Arley were second with 15 points, 3rd Bewdley with13 points,4th Churchill and Blakedown with 11 points, just beating Stone on shots difference 5th Stone with 11 points, 6th, Wolverley and Cookley with 10 points, and 7th Kidderminster Foreign with 6 points.

Press Release Rounders Competition
The rounders competition was held at Habberley playing fields on Saturday 16th April, 4 teams took part in a round robin competition with Churchill and Blakedown producing a dazzling performance for their first win of the competition. 2nd was Kidderminster Foreign with 7 points , 3rd Wolverley and Cookley with 5 points and 4th with 3 points was upper Arley.

Wyre Forest Parish Games 2005 Events

What are they?
A series of events between Parishes taking places in March, April, May and June 2005. The winning team of each event receives a trophy to keep. The overall winning team receives prize money and a shield to keep for one year.

How do I qualify?
You must reside or belong to a club in one of the thirteen parishes of Wyre Forest.

What does it cost?
It costs nothing to take part, as each Parish pays the entry fees, (with the exception of the Golf competition)
