Stephen Clee

County Councillor

I was born in the Wyre Forest and educated at local Worcestershire schools, currently working as an electrical engineer in the building services industry. I live and represent the Bewdley Ward on the local Wyre Forest District Council. I am the former Leader of Wyre Forest District Council from 2004-2007.

In 1999 I was elected to the Worcestershire County Council for Chaddesley Division. Following that By-election Worcestershire County Council appointed me to represent the County Council on the Kidderminster & District Community Health Council. I was re-elected to the County Council in June 2001 and May 2005 and have been appointed a Cabinet Member for Corporate Services since 2001.

Health Care, is an extremely important local issue in the Wyre Forest, and it is therefore vital that the CHC monitor the health services provided by the regional Health Authority very closely. Kidderminster and its surrounding districts must be given the best possible local care. I am not a medical person, but I bring a fresh pair of eyes to the health council in its monitoring and watch dog role. Unfortunately the Labour Government abolished the CHCs in 2003 after 29 years of excellent Health Scrutiny.

I am a Member of the Hereford & Worcestershire Combined Fire Authority currently holding the position of Vice-Chairman (2007-08). I sit on the LGA District Leaders Sounding Board in London.

I have a huge knowledge of local government at all three levels. I am a Trustee of Chaddesley Corbett Educational Foundation, and Chairman of Governors at Heronswood Primary School on Spennells.

My hobbies include World Travel, Golf and playing Bridge.
