At The Pavilion

Blakedown

Present: Diane Welbourn (Chair) Ian Challis (Treasurer)  Freda Griffith (Secretary) Mark Swindells Jan Dearden  Pete Dearden Amy Chatwin Judy Stokes

Apologies:  Steve Hughes James Brown Russell Welbourn

1.      DW Welcomes those present and accepts apologies

2.      Minutes from the last meeting.          read and signed as correct ACTION none

3.      TREASURY REPORT.        Fundraising account                5060.81                                                          Sports Account                       1375.62                         Outstanding invoice for mowing fees.  And outstanding donation of £10 for the Bolt.

ACTION

·         Letter to parish Council for the mowing fees.  £800 for the mowing, due to cricket wash out this year other field maintenance of £500/600 will be a problem to fund this year. Possibly ask the PC for extra money this year to keep us a float (!) due to inclement weather. Ian to check up on the total number of Belbroughton games played to see if this keeps us solvent.  When figures ready, Fred to write to PC.

·         Letter requests return to Charities commission to be on line.  Pete and Fred both offer online use of computer for this at Ian’s convenience – just phone or email one of us when you are ready.

·         Diane to chase Pavilion insurance

4.      CRICKET      4 games at home 1 away. 19 (unconfirmed) for Belbroughton. Awful wash out of season.  Second quote for pipe to the square for watering is approx £700 (awaiting letter of confirmation) this year not needed, but last year £??? (lots) spent on replacing turf due to drought.  The reasonable cost of this quote would make it reasonable to go ahead with it.  No decision needed before next meeting.

ACTION

5.      FOOTBALL  Season started. Won on Sunday. Wyre Forest Panthers, Halesowen Town Colts, Blakedown and Sporting Hagley have all played so far with no problems.  Letter from Ben Watkins requesting to set up Churchill and Blakedown FC for 2008 season.  Calls for a junior/ mini kicker side we are losing our village children to Hagley and others. Approach Nigel about proposed flyer round the village to drum up support; but if many come forward then obviously we don’t want to let them down, and even for a temporary fill in people running clubs like these have to be CRB checked and trained etc, so you cant fill in at the last min as an enthusiastic Dad.  Could he extend his age range at short notice?

ACTION

·         Approach Nigel.

·         With football invoices ask for special vigilance against vandalism.  While they are using the ground other members of the public may be damaging property, tennis nets being climbed, graffiti on any part of the grounds of buildings, Joy riding (even unreasonably fast use of the drive and car park). If users feel intimidated approaching offenders then a photo on their mobile phones of the people and or the number plates will help us report the damagers.

6.      TENNIS  Apologies.  Ready for invoice which was delayed due to high expenditure for the court refurb. Thank you for delay and ready to pay now.  Pleasing rise in membership.  Raise issue of vandalism as discussed above.

ACTION

·         Invite Police to a meeting?  Ask for temporary video cameras. Keep place even more secure by keeping gate locked.

7.      CAR PARK  changes abandoned too late in the day.

8.      INSURANCE Informed of the refurbishment, replies received.  Diane to study (help from Pete)
